Here at WS we've been beavering away of the past few months moving all our main servers (and customer ones) over to Rocky. If you don't already know then please check them out and lend your support https://rockylinux.org. Basically it's the new direction we are all taking after the RedHat changes to the way Centos is produced. RIP Centos, viva Rocky!
Ok so if you're already using Centos 8 the move to Rocky is quick and simple, with no downtime (it can even be done on live servers hosting many virtual machines). As usual do this at your own risk, or if you want to be on the safe side get in touch and we will do it for you.
* this process can take 15 mins or longer even on a fast machine
1) curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/rocky-linux/rocky-tools/main/migrate2r... -o migrate2rocky.sh
2) chmod u+x migrate2rocky.sh
3) ./migrate2rocky.sh -r
done :)
Now enjoy Rocky Linux 8 with support until May 2029!
If you are on Centos prior to v7 we can still do the upgrade but the process is more complex - drop us a line.
